Hi Sylvia,
i was on the phone the other night to a lady who knew my mam lily and my grandma lizzy and harry, she is also a cain and was born about 1923 she is esther cain, her mam and dad had taken my gran lizzy and harry and family in when they were evicted out of there flat in spring valley [ by the kyles ] by a mr mccarten [ that name rings a bell with me as well ] but a nieghbour complained and esthers parents had to get rid of my family, in 1940 lizzy and harry cain and my mam , louise and one of the boys lived in 14 st georges st, and thats where my mam and dad got married from,
she told me a few things, like [ i think she got mixed up here though ] my dad georges sister was a loverly girl , always well dressed and proud of herself, a bit older than him, i told her he didnt have a sister, she recons he did and worked in felices cafe, but i came to the conclusion that she may have been talking of edith his guardian esther is relation to our mayor colin and it was colin who told me to ring her as she wouldve kown my family, but again, more my mams side, but she did say my da ws a handsome man, and mamwent to hanover school, because she had a weak heart and illness she said mam was quiet and sometimes missed school because of this illness,, i realy did not know there were flats in spring valley,
