hi liz,
my mum grew up in Hanover Place in the 1920s & 30s and went to Hanover Street school. I just asked her - two hours on the phone! - she remembers the house in Barracks street where you could buy toffee apples but unfortunately doesn't recognise or at least remember the names you quote. She did recall a young girl by the name of Nicky Cain at the toffee apple house but doesn't know her parents names or what happened to her. So not much help I'm afraid, unless the name Nicky Cain jogs someone else's memory?
