There will be no records of being on any form of
inspection unless a business was advertising in the
Guide. Many boarding housekeepers never felt they
needed to advertise " word of mouth about good
food etc. " would fill all the beds. Ads. too expensive!
Not until the Summerland fire disaster when bad
publicity hurt the IOM did compulsory inspections of
facilities & installations of fire safetyequipment take place.
It became illiegal to take in paying tourists without
