Re: Gladys Starkey

Hi Maggie,

I'm glad (for you) that you posted those births, because the marriage I posted previously for your Gladys turns out to be the correct person!
You wrote:
Gladys Starkey b. 30th July 1901 F. John James Starkey (Joiner) M. Elizabeth Mary Starkey (nee Quayle) 19 Church St Ramsey.

Maughold marriage:
13 May 1923
Claude Henry JOUGHIN 20 Bachelor Butcher 4 Cannell's Lane, West End, Ramsey, [father] John Thomas Joughin, Carter, and
Gladys STARKEY 21 Spinster 1 Court Row, Ramsey, [father] John James Starkey, Joiner.

When I asked Philip Allen, who holds a lot of Joughin records, he wrote:
"It is most unlikely that there would be two Gladys Starkeys on about the same age in the Isle of Man. My note of the death certificate gives full details: 1989 Dec 22, at Ramsey Cottage Hospital, Gladys Joughin, b 1901 July 29th at Ramsey, nee Starkey, aged 88, widow of Claude Henry Joughin, master butcher, etc..."
