Re: Starkey/Lace conundrum

Right, see what you mean! It's possible then that Gladys worked for the same family, but in Ramsey, though my Mum seemed fairly sure Gladys worked for the Corletts, in a house on the hill overlooking Mooragh Park (I went to the house as a child) Having been brought up all my life with these Starkey relatives, I'm now discovering that I have no Starkey blood at all...Jessie was the illegitimate daughter of Sarah Heaney ( I would LOVE to trace backwards from Sarah, but have found nothing except a baptism date of 6/8/1865 - with the spelling HAINEY) Sarah went on to marry Thomas Henry Starkey, Jessie was still residing there (11 Church St, Ramsey) with her mother and step-father when James was born, and somehow later decided that Starkey was now the family name, though nothing was ever done 'officially' about this. As I have no idea of the paternity of either Sarah, Jessie, Winnie or Laura, I guess it's entirely possible there WAS Starkey blood there, but I'd rather not consider how that might have come about!
