Re: Lewis Killip b circa 1855 Lonan/Douglas

I will check your info with my files and email you if I find anything interesting - are you in Melbourne?

There aren't many earlier records apart from Parish records - the basic Baptism, Marriage, death and burial records (see Brian Lawson's site) and Wills. There are Presentments in the Manx Museum recording issues raise in ecclesiastical courts, but these have not been transcribed although some people have been researching these recently on microfilm. Monumental inscriptions have been recorded by the IOM FHS but few of these survive earlier than 1800 (see the Manx Notebook for some earlier transcriptions - Frances has also transcribed other older documents which may refer to your ancestors if you are lucky and you can search her website to find all Killip references).
There are some property records, but their survival is in the hands of the owner and their legal representatives and are not collated centrally - if you knew where your ancestors lived, there may be surviving records within the property Deeds and you could try contacting the current property owner, but this is an extremely long shot as many of these records have been lost!
