Thanks Mary for the information, there may be some connection between the Kewley and Jones you found although the event took place 23 years after my grandfather was born.them well, The Kewleys at one time lived at Shaws Brow, Douglas. The school committee of Douglas 1885 to 1890 report has an entry dated 24 3 1885 of Lewis Cowell at St Geoges school, father John Cowell of 22 Barrack st Douglas. I know that Wm who had Louis as a boarder in 1881 had a son a called John a few years older than my grandfather, the same people? I dont know.
