Thanks for the replies, all I know is that he was, to quote my mother, born the wrong side of the bedclothes, there was a very close relationship between the Cowells and the Kewleys, part of the Dawsey Kewley family, he was brought up by Wm and Elizabeth Cowell nee Place, later he took the name of Cowell and married in Bolton in 1897 at a CoE church as Louis Henry Cowell. I had wondered if there was a babtism record of him and I thought St Barnabas the most likely place to start
