Re: Philip Quayle 1768
In Response To: Re: Philip Quayle 1768 ()

Hello again Raymond,

When I suggested in Jan. that Ballaugh wills are still your best bet - looking for a reference to a son or grandchild living in Maughold - I meant wills which had not already been looked at by Frances or others, and were therefore not on her website nor on Brian Lawson's one. No-one else has found your Philip Quayle's parents, so there is no point continually looking through other people's research without looking at anything new.

The earliest record you have for Philip Quayle said that he was "from Ballaugh", so that should be your starting point. This means looking at the wills at a LDS Family History Centre, for the film numbers I gave you in a previous message. Didn't you say you have a cousin who could go to a FHC to view the films, if you can't? However if there is a centre not too far from you, you will find people up to their 90s enjoying looking at the films and making discoveries.
Also looking through the Ballaugh parish register on film would give you a better feel for the families, their place names, and their connections, which you can't get from the IGI.

Please would you look again at:
