Most interesting - my great uncle, William Joseph Clague from Douglas, joined the Shropshire Light Infantry in 1918 and I often wondered why he joined that regiment. If the KSLI were stationed on the Island for a period that could explain it. Another great uncle (William Quine) joined the Liverpool Regiment – which seems more logical.
(Sorry, this is not actually relevant to your question about William Henry Ward, but I have not seen any other reference to the KSLI and the Island.)
Sadly, William Joseph died a few weeks after going to France and is buried at Etaples Military Cemetry near Boulogne. I would really like to know what happened to him, but it seems very little information is currently available.
