Re: Sheard update
In Response To: Re: Sheard update ()

Oops, sorry Frances, yes, c1769 and c1795. I must have been having a blonde moment, with trying to make out the writing on John jnr's discharge papers. They can be very hard to read.
I wouldn't like to say I'm 100% certain on all this, as the only info I have has been from the census, NA, and LDS website, and also with not being able to find a death for a Grace Sheard.

However, there was a David Sugden Sheard c1805 Bowling, Bradford, father John, who on the 1841 is still in Bradford and a weaver. It unfortunately only had John down as father and not Grace as mother.

According to LDS, John snr married Elizabeth Corkill in 1811. I had wondered if she had been married before, as on Manx notebook, it says Crellin, and was wondering if that may have been her maiden name.

On the 1841 IoM there are 3 John Sheards, all born England, though my husband's GtGt Grandfather c1816 is in Lancs by then.

I would cherish any thoughts on all this. The Sheard line has been one heck of a roll for me, and we're still unable to find the birth record for Charles Albert Bailey Sheard c1883-86, Peel. I believe now that he just wasn't registered for some reason, possibly they moved back to Wavertree straight after his birth.

If copies of discharge papers are wanted for any purpose, please let me know if they will help in anyway.
