Ballabrooie was the smallest of the 3 quarterlands
of the treen of Douglas---Ballaquayle the nearest to
Onchan village along the seafront, then Ballakermeen
with its seashore boundary in the middle of the bay. The boundary can be traced up Broadway which
becomes Ballaquayle Road leading up the hill to
the bottom of Duke's Road [Todds Lane] where BQ farm once stood. Ballabrooie stretches from the River
Douglas up the steep wooded bank to Ballakermeen &
was farmland until 1934. Most of Douglas was in Onchan parish.
