It would be a good idea to check with the MNR llibrary to determine whether they have presentments for the years of interest to you. About 5 years ago I searched through some presentments at the MNR library for several years from about 1795 to about 1860. They were the original papers filed in boxes by year. The pages were of all sizes and shapes and some were written on both sides of a page. It meant you had to look at both sides of the page especially for those years where there was no index.
The 19th century presentments gradually petered out completely by about 1865 but existed in rural parishes much later than the main centres.
Besides mothers sueing for support, there are all sorts of other law suits that could provide interesting details about ancestors.
Unless the 19th century presentments have all been microfilmed (which I doubt) you would likely have to come to the Island and do the research yourself. I was lucky and found what I wanted in one morning since the items I was researching were either indexed or were on a page near the top of a box. Somebody else could look for days and be unsuccessful.
