Greetings from Victoria, B.C.
My ancestor, John Crebbin, according to 1881 UK London, Bromley/St. Leonard Census, was born c. 1816 in the IOM.
John married to Martha Harrison, born c. 1818 in Liverpool. Their marriage certificate states that John Cribbin (note spelling) son of William Cribbin, cordwainer (which someone told me meant shoemaker), married Martha Harrison, dtr. of Thomas Harrison.
I found a will for Henry Crebbin of Liverpool, leaving everything to his wife and two sons, John and William, all shoemakers.
It's quite probable that these Crebbins are my ancestors, and I'd really like to hear from anyone who knows anything about this family. Also, in the early 1800's would people born in the IOM possibly get christened in Liverpool?
Regards,
Esther (Crebbin) Mitchell
