Re: William RADCLIFFE/ KILLIP to USA

Thanks, Jeff, that makes it much clearer.

There are four of us currently researching Radcliffe families, and attempting to confirm the links from the ones who emigrated back to their origins in the IOM, but no, I'm not related to your USA ones (that I am aware of).

I think Lois is doing a study of immigrants from the IOM to Warrensville Ohio [not only Radcliffe].

In my message you probably noticed that I had the same family as you have for Bridget Lace [same bapt date], but I had two suggested William Radcliffes who could have been her husband.

Do you have an age given for him anywhere in USA records? And do you know where the birth date you have originated? Because I think there is an error with this date for the William who went to the USA, and it would be good to know which IOM Radcliffe family he came from.

William Radcliffe bapt 3 Dec.1769 was the son of William R. & Margery Lace.
His father's will is at http://www3.telus.net/lawson/twill/1791_018.html
His mother's will is at http://www3.telus.net/lawson/twill/1813_012.html
In it she mentions the children of her son William, amongst many other details.
Constance Radcliffe wrote "William, the first Clerk, married Margery Lace, who was a party to one of the most detailed articles of marriage ever drawn up when her son William the second Clerk married Mary Martin of "Cronk e dooiney" in 1792".

Mary died before her mother-in-law in 1809:

CR wrote "William, second son of Thomas Radcliffe and Esther Quirk of Ballaradcliffe became Parish Clerk, thus inaugurating a period of 137 years during which members of the same family held the same office.
William, who died in 1791, was succeeded by his eldest son, also William (in office 1791-1813), and then by his youngest son John (in office 1813-1858)."

It appears that this William [bapt 3 Dec.1769] died in 1813: he left a will which I haven't seen. But he was married to Mary Martin at the time the other William was married to Bridget Lace.

So, if he wasn't the William who was the father of Thomas William b.1805, is there anything in your documents or notes which gives an age for him at any stage, or an alternative birth date?
