Not being familiar with this site, I am not sure to whom I am replying. Like my brother, John and my sisters Jeanne and Dianne, I am searching for the native land of our ancestor, Christian Dolloff. His name has been spelled in various ways that make us wonder how the name could have been pronounced in the 15th century, particularly in the mid 1600's. My query is this: How is DOLLOUGH (or DOLLAUGH) pronounced today and how would it have been pronounced during the earlier period in question? If you can use the International Phonetic Alphabet to delineate the pronunciation, that would be more than adequate. Barring that ability, any approximation would be useful. Bear in mind that we are Americans on the East coast of the United States and have our own peculiarities in pronoucing English.
