Thanks for the reply. I had looked through the 1941 census but, as I was running out of time, I had missed this entry. (I only had time to look through the index- and only looked for Kaneen). I had wondered if Kneen was a varient of the Kaneen surname. The Kaneen family moved from the Isle of Man over to Cumberland in approx 1874. There are no Kaneens in our area now but, there are several Kneen families. As with some other ancestors I have discovered, the names have been altered due to the standard of literacy at the time.
