I have recently visited the Island to research my husbands family tree. His Great Grandmother was called Catherine Kaneen and was born in 1854 (Lonan). Parents were John Kaneen (Braddan) and Margaret Cain (Lonan) who were married 18th January 1834. I found the family on 1851, 1861 & 1871 census records but was unable to locate them prior to 1851 (although census records showed that 5 children had been born in Lonan between 1834 & 1851). Does anyone have any information about this family?
