I hope you will pursue the IOM land records and if you do, I wish you good luck. I am probably a dunce, but so far my attempts to review land records has left me completely baffled. The early ones that I've seen on films are total chaos--notes written every which way all over the pages and margins often using some sort of nondescript code. One time I spent 1/2 hr trying to figure out a film when I discovered it was the wrong film and was actually in German That about summed up the frustration I was having. Some of the records in the 1850s-60s seem to be a bit more organized and intelligible but I still haven't figured them out. I've tried various films at various times. Every time I go to Salt Lake City I vow I will try to unscramble a land record or two but I usually end up in despair. I know it is possible to read these things and I hope you find out the secrets. Let us know how you do.
