Hi - would welcome any advice on how to proceed now I have traced John Ronnan born about 1777 from Liverpool where he was a shipwright in 1804 to the Isle of Man.
I am helping a close friend, Eric Ronnan, with his tree. He knows it goes back to the Isle of Man. In the early 1930s, he was on holiday in a farmhouse, which could have belonged to relatives. His father told him this was where they came from. It was within travelling distance of Peel and Kirk Rushen is ringing bells with him. He was also told the farmhouse was used as the film set for a George Formby film where the car went through the house. Wondered whether to write to a local paper appealing for help.
The only Ronnans I can find through searching the Hugh Wallis batch numbers IGI website are Ronans. I've gone through every church listed in the Isle of Man and Kirk Rushen is the only place where the Ronans are to be found. The marriages are at Malew.
I have found a John Ronan christened Jan 1777 with father Thomas Ronan and mother Eleanor Christian. This is the right year of birth for my John Ronnan.
This looks a likely candidate but it's how to verify the link...
Welcome your thoughts. Many thanks. Liz
