it is possible the local press would give details about the builder though I doubt the actual men; the architect, as is well known, was John Welch. The Manx Museum has a copy of the subscription list of those who paid for it. Almost certainly local masons used to handling the local stone (buildings were seldom constructed with stone that had to come from more than a few hundred yards away. - there were quarries on South Quay and at the north end of Douglas bay
