There is a new index to pre 1733 episcopal wills in the Manx Museum - the original index is severely defficient

There are wills missing from the later index though so far I've not come across too many - there are some transcription errors in names as well sometimes a petitioner is confused with the deceased.

Brian's index is very useful and I'm not criticising it - the archideaconal wills were numbered and these numbers can be checked to check out sequence as the parishes should be in a fixed order with no number duplicated (I have found missing numbers + a couple of dups from actual inspection but most such in Brian's index are transcription errors).

The Episcopal wills with no page number are a pain to use - especially as for some years the books were filmed in the wrong order and thus the index is wrong.
