My g. g. grandfather, James Corlett was born 28 Sept. 1823, I believe in Bride Parish. His biography, published in 1892 (in Winnebago County, Illinois), indicates that James's father was a sea captain and lost at sea probably in 1821 or 1822 , in any case, shortly after his marriage. An IGI Christening record indicates that his parents were Thos Corlett and Mary Kewish. Any suggestions on how to verify the "lost at sea" part?
