I think Hugh Kneale is the son of Thomas Kneale and Ann Kinnish, listed in IGI as Ewan.
Jane Daugherty is living with this family in 1861 at Ballure and is noted as granddaughter.
An Elizabeth Kneale married Charles Daugherty which appears to make Jane the niece of Hugh.
