According to the 1891 census, James McQuiggin was born in Douglas about 1874 to James McQuiggin, mariner, and Elizabeth.
In 1895 he married Eleanor McVey of Douglas, who was the daughter of James McVey, mariner and lifeboatman on Civil Service No. 6, Douglas, (whom I would also like to find out more about!). At the 1901 census Eleanor aged 25, was living in St Georges Walk, Douglas, his parents, aged 52, were living in St Barnabas Sq, Douglas, and James McQuiggin was on the ss Creaden off Greenhithe, Kent, aged 27.
Any suggestions with how I can trace what subsequently happened to James, leading to where and when he drowned, or how to follow up on the ss Creaden, would be very welcome.
Thanks in anticipation
