This entry was not Maughold, but St Marks which I think is Malew, although I have not researched that area.

I can only echo Roy's suggestion and say that you need to trace back from certs and films of the actual records. 40km isn't far for Oz, and trying to get factual information through the Internet can be frustrating and a waste of time, unless you are looking at scanned copies of the originals.

You wrote that another fact is that Richard Steele married Margaret Corlett on 5th September 1857. This marriage entry should give the fathers' names and occupations which you need before proceeding with the search.
