Hi Frances - Thanks for the interesting explanation. The Peter Murray who "Abjured the island" was the first one, who died in 1805.

The gap in the children's baptisms was for those of his son Peter b.1779 & wife Jane Kennish. I thought it possible that he and his wife were living in Liverpool during that period 1805 - 1817 when the children being asked about by Sue Murray could have been born.
Alternatively he could have been in the navy as a reason for the gap, as you suggest.
