Re: LYNCHEY OR SIMILAR
In Response To: Re: LYNCHEY OR SIMILAR ()

Thank you Brian,

You may be the person who gave me that info previously.

I still have some dilemmas with these forebears.

The convict indent and subsequent documents in OZZ identify her as Sarah, however the court report of the trial refers to her as Mary.

She was sentenced at Castle Rushen, along with a son Thomas, and I have found their (separate) arrivals in OZZ along with both their Tickets of Leave (an early colonial form of parole), I also have Sarah's Certificate of Freedom and her death.

Sarah's daughter Mary Ann was my GG grandmother and I have linked them by finding Sarah assigned to remain with "Mr. G. Dudley (Mary Ann's husband) while subject to the ToL..

The convict indent did not identify the 3 children Sarah brought with her by name (they were the children of a convict after all) simply as one male and two females.

Mary Ann's marriage certificate gives her maiden name as LYNCHEY but no details of her parents. Her death certificate gives her father's name as James.

I have not found any other LYNCHEY's in the marriages or deaths in New South Wales.

So I plod on.

Thank you for your response.

Cheers
