Can someone please give an opinion on the entry for John Callow in the 1891 and 1901 census's. According to Brian the 1901 entry (at 35 Cronkbourne) is John H Callow. Looking at the 1891 census (when the same family are at 36 Cronkbourne) I'd say that particular entry looks like John Hy Callow. My problem is that I have a family wedding certificate showing that the father of my g-grandfather is clearly one John William Callow. We know that John William was definitely with (may not have married) Minnie Dumphy and are pretty certain that prior to that relationship he was almost certainly married to Minnie's sister Violet (who died in childbirth.) The fact that the aforementioned Callows lived next door to the Dumphy's would suggest a strong possibility that this is the correct Callow family but I'm worried about the names for John given in the two census's. John William was a sailor so it could be that he was away at the time of the census but surely there wouldn't be two son's called John both alive at the same time? I would welcome some other opinions.
