I am not aware of a Manx Connection here, but remember all Dougherty/Daugherty and variations descend from the Clan from Innishowen. I did in my earlier days of research email a scout troup in Dougherty (through website), but all I received was references to the scouting, not the town's name. I think it is worth pursuing these lines of interest though.

Have you looked at the Dougherty websites. There is a webring of at least three main sites. I had planned going to the convention this year in Innishowen, in July, but the Manx rheumatism got me and I never got around to it!
