In the orphanage records (Douglas Industrial Home) I have obtained for my grandfather and siblings, under comments it states "Parents went to Liverpool. Father became unsteady and died in poverty". I'm wondering if anyone knows what the term "unsteady" usually referred to, ie. mental health, alcoholism?? Any input / insight would be appreciated.
