While we're on this subject again, I thought I'd share some info I got off a friend at the Genes Reunited website.

He has researched various Cretney wills and concluded that there was another generation between Oates and John ie William who married Ann Cottier.

Don't know if this helps in this particular instant, but it certainly seems to open up another generation!
