I'm not entirely sure of the origin of Goodwin's Scraps but I think it was the handwritten genealogy notes of a couple of brothers in the early 1900s.
The Scraps have been recorded on microfilm by the Mormons, as far as I know they haven't been transcribed. The Manx Museum likely also has the films?
The Scraps are arranged alphabetically and are on 2 reels of microfilm.
They are a series of rambling notes about various Manx surnames, some possible family trees, some entries from parish records, etc.
For instance, I copied the Cain(e) pages some yrs ago and have found them to be very interesting and at times useful.
These were done in the pre-computer age, of course, so the researcher(s) didn't have the technological benefits we have. Some of the trees may be questionable and certainly shouldn't be taken as fact. I have found that they give good leads in some cases and often have interesting tid-bits.
Some of the entries 1900+ are interesting as they are after the censuses that we have, etc.
