WOW Brian!
I think you've got some extremely important information on my Paternal line!!!
I don't have Internet access to the IOM 1841 census. Ancestry.com only has back to 1861, at this time.
PLEASE tell me how to get a copy of that census and page. I am absolutely thrilled!
Seems that my ancestor John switched job titles almost as often as socks! LOL! (If what your info states is correct;
he was a "warehouseman" at 35 yrs of age,
a "chemist's assistant" 45 yrs of age,
and a "chemist" at the age of 55 (married to a "Certified Teacher".)
Then, in 1881, they were both teaching at Jurby Parochial School!
(My paternal grandmother told me that they were both "Headmasters at Jurby".) What was the deffinition of an "Headmaster" compared to that of a "teacher"?
Can't help but wonder what was required to become a "Certified Teacher", as a woman vs. a man, back in the 1800's.
Any input and thoughts on this, would be greatly appreciated.
