I'm currently working on Peel Families - I have an Anthony McGuffog who held a public house licence 1802-1804 (Manx Advertiser 15 Dec 1804 carries notice for sale of lease of large Dwelling House known as Parr's old house by Anthony McGuffog) - there is a Anthony McGuffog buried in Braddan (17 Feb 1810) along with a putative son Martin (age 17 bur 26 Oct 1824), another putative son Robert McGuffog prospered as Collector of Customs for Douglas before his death (bur 6 Jan 1848) age 59. There is a Jessie McGuffog noted in the 1814 Peel Census (with one male + female over 14 + one male 14 or younger - presumeably Robert + Martin + ANO ), however there are no marriages/baptisms noted in the IGI (? family Presbyterian or less likely Roman Catholic ?).
Any additional info welcome - does anyone have access to Braddan MI's ?
A George Sutherland appears to have taken over licence in 1806 but does not appear in the 1814 Peel Census - any connection with this name also welcome
