I agree with Ian. I found one branch of my Manx ancestors in Whitehaven, which was a very large coal producer and port. I understand a lot of the coal burned on the Island came from Whitehaven. When the earlier English censuses come on-line, I hope to find the Gills and Cunninghams missing from the Manx censuses.
