Some Manx miners worked temporarily in English, Scottish and Welsh mines and quarries - particularly in Lancashire, Cumberland and North Wales. Your missing miners may have been on temporary contracts elsewhere - I found one in Barrow-in-Furness (married but on his own in a lodging house) and another in Whitehaven (although he had his family with him). I am sure others are there to be found in towns and villages around Flint, Wrexham, Bolton, Ayr etc.
