This wasn't Lewthwaite's folly but correctly Joe Lewin's Tower.
Joe was a younger son of the Ballhergey family who rented the property off his elder brother. Bit of an eccentric.
The remains of the spiral ramp and tower remain on the hilltop east of Ballhergey.
I think the poem about the tower and the various Baldwin families appeared in the Journal.
