Hello. I just thought I'd add an FYI:
My ancestor was Evan CORKILL / CORKHILL born on the IOM in 1827 to John and Esther (?) CORKILL.
In either 1852 or 1858, Evan CORKILL married in Liverpool, England, to Elizabeth ___, possibly Elizabeth QUAYLE. Unfortunately, I have not been able to find out anything else about her.
She was probably born between 1825 and 1835 (?), and could have been born in Liverpool or on the Isle of Man. Evan was born in the Lezayre Parish.
Evan and Elizabeth (QUAYLE??) CORKILL / CORKHILL had five children that I know of, all born between 1860 and 1871. Probably around 1872/73, Mrs. Elizabeth CORKILL died, as all five children went to live in the Liverpool Sheltering Homes in 1873.
They were sent to Canada in 1874. It is my understanding that Evan CORKILL lived into his 80's in the West Derby part of Liverpool, and had remarried to a Mrs. Elizabeth UPTON from Wales.
Evan was a Mariner.
