Following my earlier postings on Aaron Qualtrough Kelly, bp Lonan in 1870, and thanks to Brian Lawson I now see that there is more to this "story" than meets the eye.
The 1861 census states that Aaron was born Collister with a brother Thomas H and a half sister Eleanor Kelly who was much older... see the following:
1861, Patrick, district 5, schedule 119, Quarterland
Isabella Kelly, head, widow, 46, agricultural labourer, Malew
Eleanor, daughter, unmarried,d 21, agricultural labourer, Malew
Thomas H Collister, son, unmarried, 8, scholar, Patrick
Aaron Collister, son, unmarried, 4, Patrick
James Kelly, grandson, unmarried, 1, Patrick
It appears the 21 y/o daughter Eleanor could be the daughter of James Kelly and Isabella Faragher bp Malew 5 May 1839.
Isabella Faragher seems to have married James Kelley in Malew 29 May 1834
She appears to be the daughter of John Fargher & Mary Tear bp Malew 19 April 1812
There are marriages for an Isabel Kelly to a Henry Collister in 1853 @ Braddan and to a John Collister in 1855 @ Lonan The 1853 one looks a possibility as the Henry could reflect in the son Thomas H Collister bn c 1853, but then the one in Lonan could also with the Lonan connection.
Questions:
Who is the father of the Collister children named in the 1861 census?
What is the Qualtrough connection?
Why was Aaron known as Qualtrough Kelly in 1870 baptism in Lonan when he was born in Patrick and appears to have lived in Patrick all his younger life.
Why was he baptised in Lonan at age 14 and his mother named as Elizabeth Kelly when she was a Isabella Kelly in 1861, 1871, 1881 and always appears to have lived in Patrick and born in Malew.
Aaron may have taken the name Collister permanently as there is an Aaron bn c 1857 married to a Jane ?? and died 29 August 1943 (IGI)).
Brian Lawsons site shows a burial for an Aaron Collister in Rushen 1 September 1943. Would appear to be the same person.
Suggestions/help/connections welcome.
Thank you in anticipation
Elizabeth
