Pat(t)erson is a rare name on the Island - there would appear to have been one such family in the Kirk Michael area at around this period, a daughter of which married into the Cannon family (of George Q Cannon fame - a Mormon) hence the large number of invented entries (the birth about variety) - however the Will of Jane Cannon als Patterson of 1703 may help - however 1740 was at the height of the smuggling trade in Peel with many Irish coming over
