I am descended from the 2nd son of Daniel Garrett and Catherine Costain, a Daniel b.12.3.1819. my Great great Grandfather. He married Esther Lace 1846 in Bradden. John their 1st son was my Great Grandfather. and this Gr.Grandfathers 2nd son John Henry was my Grandfather, and John Henrys' 10th child Esther is my Mother, who was 84 lastSaturday.
In the IGI there were 2 possible births for Daniel Garrett, one b.1794 and one1795.
1) to Thomas Garrett and Catherine Black in1794
2) to John Garrett and Ann Radcliffe in1795
9 years later there was another entry for a birth of a Daniel Garrett to Thomas and Catherine in1803. So I assume their other Daniel has died. This leaves the Daniel born to John and Ann as the most suitable line to follow seeing as the other Daniel would be too young to have married in 1819 , the year Daniel Garrett marries Catherine Costain.
The family of John and Ann were settled in the North East, and the families of their offsprings also for some time. The other family were in the South West of the Island.
I requested a copy of the Marriage entry for Ellen Garrett who emigrated to NSW Australia in 1853 to see what her fathers occupation was. The certificate received states her fathers occupation was "Mason" !! so that is where I got "Mason " from.
Hoping to hear from you.
Joyce.
