Hello Noel,
Thanks for your reply.
I agree with you -- the GEDCOM webpage is a complete waste of time if there is no method of updating the files displayed on it.
Webpages and websites should be dynamic, always changing, updating, improving and evolving. Unfortunately the Manx genealogy website is static, and dying of neglect.
To be honest I think the entire Manx genealogy section of the isle-of-man.com website needs a fundamental rethink. No one seems interested in maintaining it properly. To me, it mirrors the head-in-the-sand attitude of the IoMFHS to the Internet.
Reading the IoMFHS journal, one could be forgiven for thinking that the Internet didn't exist. I'm not criticising the editor for this - it's an attitude that seems to pervade the whole ethos of the FHS hierarchy.
I think it's very sad.
All the best,
John Ball

PS I just clicked the "Check Spelling" button in order to spellcheck my message, only to be told:
"This site's subscription to SpellChecker.net has expired. The webmaster for this site can renew their subscription by visiting www.SpellChecker.net"
I'm speechless!!
