Frances, Thank you for you quick response. I've seen some of Corkill and the passage you quote. I have a copy of a Cashin Family "record" (Cashin of Patrick) by Maryellen Robinson Hinricks dated 1974 in which she recounts the story and I seem to remember a similar tale from my childhood growing up in the Manx community of Cleveland. Perhaps it was not the Western Trader that brought William and Susanah together, after all they were both from Peel and surely knew one another. I also have most if not all of my Ggrandfathers collection of Folk Tales. I need to check to see if the Western Trader vesion is cited elsewhere. Thanks again for taking the time to respond. Bob
