Re: Clinto - Kneal,Clarke,Quay,Harren,Kaighin,Knee

They appear to be a Dalby (Patrick) family that extended into Peel around 1850's when they start to appear in the Abbey and Lord's rent rolls (William Cashen uses the name John Clinton from Dalby as the butt of a joke - www.manxnotebook.com/fulltext/wc1912/ch03.htm) - probably originally Irish ? deriving from an immigrant c.1790 ? .

I think the name has been transcribed as Clifton in the index to 1851 census as the names appear to match and there dosnt appear to be any Clintons whereas they are there in 1841

I have a photo of John Clinton in a group of Peel Weslaynas - www.manxnotebook.com/exans/prt_1903.htm
