Hi again Bruce,
Thanks for the possible clues. I cannot be sure what my Peel lines are I am afraid, I have nothing here further back that my g.grandfather John (Edward) Christian born about 1867-68 in Peel.
He seems not to have been christened, at least on the IOM. I am still unsure as to his mother or father, although his grandmother is known to me, Ann Skelly in Peel, with whom he first appears in the 1871 census, aged 4. Cornelius about whom I often post on here is his uncle. I think perhaps Ann's daughter Elizabeth is the mother, and I have one John Christian currently under the microscope in Peel. nothing certain however so nothing that I can tie to your line.
I have other John Christians in Liverpool, the best Manx connection is to one born in 1868 to Catherine (nee Quilliam) and John Christian, who were at 88 Grieg Street in Toxteth, but gave their address as "Ramsey" for his christening. This John is a carpenter, and my JEC gave this as his late father's occupation on his marriage certificate in 1891. There is a Liverpool marriage in the names of John Christian and Catherine Quilliam some years after John's christening!
Also another JC who ties in to a family of sailmakers in West Derby.
Final JC (that springs to mind) is the curious marriage of John Edward Christian to Julia Surplice, this is such a saga that I will assemble it and put it as a separate post in case anyone is interested.
all the best
Paul
