I am seaching for information about Dr Elliston who was buried in the Parish of Marown on 26th October 1960 aged 78 (as shown on Brian Lawson's lists). I do not think Dr Elliston was born on the Isle of Man but he retired to the Island from Porthleven in Cornwall sometime after 1945. He had three distinguished brothers, (Sir George Elliston, M.P. for Blackburn; Canon Elliston of Ely Cathedral and Rowley Elliston, Recorder for Yarmouth). Although I am researching in these directions (albeit slowly) I would be very interested and grateful to know of any further information about his retirement years on the Island. He was a well respected doctor, who saw action in Italy during the First World War whilst serving in the Royal Army Medical Corps.
My special interest is because I am fortunate enough to be living in and renovating his house. And the history of this much beloved doctor and of his house is fascinating.
Thank you
