Hmm, very interesting. Her will of 1723/4 is only "Margaret Cotteen of Lonan" but mentions husband Phillip and 3 daughters. It says she "departed this life ye 6 of Jany 1723" (1723/24). When I reviewed Lonan burials many many years ago, I missed her completely, so don't have it. So this doesn't tell us anything useful.
However, the will of Malony Cotteen of Lonan 1682 mentions "daughter in law ... Margaret ffanton" which I interpreted as "Santon" It's in the same sentence as he mentions his grandchildren Gilbert and Ann Cotteene, who are the first born children of Phillip and Margaret Cotteen. I have a photocopy in front of me and it's quite clear. The will also mentions son Phillip etc. Maybe somebody else could look at this will and see if I've read this surname wrong?
Maybe she was from Santon, and that's what her father in law wrote as her name. Interesting that he didn't include "Cotteen' as part of her name.
That's all I know.
