Re: Cotteen family
In Response To: Re: Cotteen family ()

Dear Barbara,

Thanks for the information you sent me, I had got some of it already but was finding the Cotteen family difficult to research. Do you know how Maggie Catan is so called as she is listed as "sister" to Isabella. Did Isabella Cotteen remarry? Do you know what happened to Robert?

Do you know of an address where they lived in Castletown.

I would also like to know if possible the occupation of Robert Cotteen, was he connected with shipping in some way?

The reason I ask this is because as a child my grandparents talked about the family being involved in shipping, then falling on hard times after some disaster or something.

On The Squire Crabtree side I have not found a great deal he seems to vanish, no death or anything is recorded.

On the 1901 census there is another addition to the Crabtree family - Minnie 9 years old.

My connection to the family is that Isabella Cotteen was my Great Grandmother, her daughter Ethel Crabtree my Grandmother.

Are there any internet sites that give information on census for the Isle of Man? and could you give me the address of the Records office where I could get birth certificates etc..

Thanks very much for your time and effort and if you could answer any of the questions that I have just posed I would be extremely grateful
