Re: Margaret Skillicorn in London 1851

Hello Nigel,

There are not a lot of Lonan Margaret Skillicorns to choose from in that time period--

Margaret born 1789, daughter of John: She was d/o John Skillicorn and Ann Fargher, and married, December 12, 1812, William Maddrell

Margaret born 1797, daughter of Thomas: I believe she was d/o Thomas Skillicorn and Margaret Kewley. Margaret died in 1799, leaving two children, Margt and Thomas, under age. I haven't been able to identify the father Thomas in the Lonan records after the settlement of Margaret Kewley's estate, and have thought perhaps they left the Island. There is a Margaret Skillicorn, d/o Thomas buried in Lonan Feb 2, 1836, age 35, which doesn't quite fit this Margaret age-wise, but also doesn't fit the d/o Thomas and Jane Kelly who was born in 1802.

Two Margarets born 1784, d/o John born in June and d/o James of Laxey born in Aug. I know nothing about either of them.

Can you tell us anything more about the Kewley-Quine connection?
